I'm working with Excel 2000 on a Windows 10 computer.
I have several files that I have configured to make automatic backups (i.e. an "xlk" file). When I open and edit (for example) myfile.xls and then close it, I'm asked if I want to overwrite the file. I answer "Yes" and finish closing the file. When I check to see if myfile.xls has been updated, its Modification Date tells me that it has, but I also see that the backup file's Modification Date has not been changed and that it has retained its earlier date. Only if I reopen myfile.xls and save it again will the Modification Date of the backup file be updated. What am I doing wrong? |
