Here is a file where I have made it possible to use the formula on any sheet in the workbook.

Formula in Name Manager: =MID(!A1,1,LEN(!A1)-1)

instead of: =MID(Sheet1!A1,1,LEN(Sheet1!A1)-1)

(the last one only works on Sheet1).
