I'm at a loss then. The only other thing I could see to try would be to use the system restore to go back. But I'm not sure that would restore your MRU's or if it would even be worth such a measure. If you open a file today and Excel doesn't show it as an MRU, it may have become corrupted somehow. I can't think of anything else, sorry.
