Hi
I have an Excel workbook containing several sheets. I last saved it a week ago. On opening it this morning, I noticed that two files have opened up, both with the correct file name but one marked xxxxx:1 and the other xxxxx:2. I have tried saving as another name and deleting the original but when I open up the re-named file, two versions open again, one number :1 and the other :2 I am at a loss as to how this has happened and how to change it. Can anyone help me please? Many thanks. |

These are two windows on the same file.
You should just need to close those windows you don't want except for the last one (there won't be any more :1, :2 after the file name in the title bar) and then save it. |

Thank you so much, that has sorted it. I have never seen that happen before. What would I have done to cause that?

You will likely have opened a new window yourself by clicking on New Window in the Window section of the View tab of the ribbon. Keyboard Alt+w,n does the same.
It's normal Excel behaviour. |
