Default Collaboration with Excel

I have a workbook that our entire department needs to update multiple times a day. I would like to have a copy on the server and allow everyone to update as needed. I tried to use the share function and it creates a copy on ONEDRIVE and disables much of the functionality (drop downs, macros, ect). We need to be able to access simultaneously, I tried to use google sheets and it is too big and limits functionality as well.

Is there a way to collaborate with excel that I am missing?

thank you
