The way I suggested can be achieved through an Offset formula in A1 on a new worksheet:
=OFFSET(Sheet1!$A$1,(ROW()-1)*2+COLUMN()-1,0)
copied to B1, then down as far as needed (~500 rows). Your preferred method entails editing every entry...
