Hi There,
I have a very challenging exercise that I want to solve with your help. My excel workbook contains two sheets. The first sheet is my main sheet. The cells in the first column (A) contain all the different codes. and I am trying to check if this cell contains specific text. (in my example, codes I am trying to search for are H01, H02, H03 ...etc.) Meaning: If a Cell (A2) Contains a Certain Text (e.g. H05 ...etc.), then Put in cell B2 a Specified Text (H Code Name listed in the second sheet) The second sheet contains the table of these H codes (source) and this is the final result that I am trying to achieve. Would you please help me in this. the sample excel sheet is attached as well. Thanks |

If the letter "H" (in All Codes Text) only can appear in connection with a H code then maybe the attached can be used.

Hi and welcome
Please do not crosspost your question on multiple forums without including links here to the other threads on other forums. Cross-posting is when you post the same question in other forums on the web. The last thing you want to do is waste people's time working on an issue you have already resolved elsewhere. We prefer that you not cross-post at all, but if you do (and it's unlikely to go unnoticed), you MUST provide a link (copy the url from the address bar in your browser) to the cross-post. We are here to help so help us to help you! Read this to understand why we ask you to do this, and then please edit your first post to include links to any and all cross-posts in any other forums (not just this site). http://www.excelguru.ca/forums/showt...0804#post30804
