That was my line of thought too, but from a search for Excel shortcuts, according to
this ExcelJet page, under the FORMULAS part....

With this shortcut F3 (no Mac equivalent so far as I know, sorry!) you don't need to. Just press F3 and Excel will open the named range dialog box so that you can paste in the name you need.
