Default Office 2016 but want Excel 2010 by default - Win10

Hello,

I am running Windows 10 and I have Office 2016 installed. I tried and tried but I just don't like the new Excel for most of the things I do.

I also have Office 2010 and would like to set Excel 2010 as the default for all Excel files.

This has been more problematic than I expected. No matter what I do in the Default Apps sections, I cannot get Windows to choose 2010 over 2016.

Has anyone ever done this before or have any ideas?

Thanks!

***UPDATE****

So I finally got 2010 to stick while opening files directly. However, when I launch a csv, for example, from Outlook 2016, it still used Excel 2016 over 2010?!?!? And if 2010 is already open, trying to open a csv attachment will make the Excel 2010 window active... but the attachment never opens.
