I have a table, originally an .xls but saved as an .xlsx now that I switched to Excel 2016. All cells have been formatted as text.
When I open it, I get an error message about circular references and formulas--but as far as I can tell, I have no formulas, just words and numerical data. Having to click past the message every time I use the file is a very minor nuisance, but is there some way to get rid of it? |

Could you possibly upload the file?

On you XL sheet ( usually left lower corner) you have the indication of the cell in which the circular ref occurs. Perhaps that will give a clue?

Thanks! That did the job!
The problem was a stray 0 on line 279 of an otherwise empty column. I'm still not sure why that was considered a "formula" rather than just a datum, though. |
