At first glance a Pivot Table might be what you need

I can set up the data as a pivot table for sure but I was hoping to find a way, given my separate table of dept codes, to create a new column just containing the subtotals I need (total hours per dept) and have this list of subtotals adjust based on how I've filtered the base dept data.
Is it possible to meet a subtotal function inside vlookup? |
