As it turns out, I got lucky and stumbled onto the following fix:
Open Excel Create Blank Worksheet Double-clicked onto the corrupt xlam file Disable Macros when prompted Toggle to Visual Basic Module (Alt-F11) Copy/Paste wanted functions
