You can simply in a cell enter zero ("0") followed by a space and then a fraction, e,g, 0 1/2 or 0 1/8 and then hit Enter
Otherwise, 1/8 becomes a date and NOT shown as a fraction The way I have shown you can be used as a math formula, e.g., 1/2 + 1/2 summed becomes 1
