In Options/Advanced, scroll down to display options, where the check box is to "show gridlines", is the color of the gridlines set to Black?
For the blue - I'm on Office 2007. In Options, General Tab, I have the option for Silver or Blue or Black. Blue gives me blue row numbers and column labels. I'm not sure if that's the same "blue" to which you refer.
