Hi,
Office 2010 Excel. date format is now just numbers, or the full length month name, But I want 14 Mar 2014 21 Jan 2014 18 Dec 2014 etc as opposed to 18 December 2014 and likewise for the others. How is this done ? Full length makes the columns far too wide, I am surprised not to see the truncated version, I recall such in office 2000 if memory serves me correctly. I also want to type a few out then select and drag right to auto fill the rest of my columns as is possible with existing formats, so any tweaking must allow this please. DBenz |

Hi
The format you're looking for is DD MMM YYYY The pattern behind is simple: M to show single numbers 1 MM to show numbers 01 MMM to show short form Jan MMMM to show full name January Same aplies to days If the special format section doesn't offer the desired format go to customized formats and type in the desired format. If you need the step by step instructions try this post:
http://www.thetraininglady.com/creat...bers-in-excel/ It relates to custom number formats to display a phone number but the same applies to Date custom formats and it is performed using the same method but just choose the Date category instead. Let me know if you still require assistance. |

Hi, Many thanks, got it and done.
Can I add that as one of the available choices in excels combo list when choosing format ? I will no doubt forget it otherwise. DBenz |
