Sounds like you have a large amount of formulas in your worksheet. This can be fixed by turning the calculation to manual and then calculating the sheet before saving it. The other option is to have your formulas rewritten with a VBA script which is what I do now. I do this on spreadsheets where I have around 50,000 vlookups or countifs to complete.
