Is there a way to access and run Excel from a webpage using JavaScript, JQuery, and such using Office automation? Does some trusted component need to be installed on the machine? Seems there would be a need for something similar for interaction of Office apps on a desktop interacting with docs on SharePoint or else one gets the error message "Windows SharePoint Services-compatible application is not available"
