Hi,
I am trying to find preventative solutions to resolve an issue when multiple people share an excel file. What happens is when another person opens an excel file that has been open for a while it displays that the file is currently open by 'another user'. The solution that I have on hand already is going into Computer Management on the server >> Shared Folders >> Open Files and being able to see who actually has the file locked out. Then notify the correct people. Using the Excel sheet as a collaborative workbook is not an option, since our company policy doesn't allow it due to, to many of them in the past becoming corrupt. This appears so far that the temporary lock file become corrupt. Any help or suggestion on trying to prevent this from happening so no one needs to intervene every time this happens is appreciated. |

I think this has your answer.
http://www.ozgrid.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32949 Just adjust the time amount to how long you want it to "time out" |
