Hi Bob,

LOL, you went right over my head with your formulas, thank gawd your last sentence was in English

Ok, so I searched the workbook & checked off case & searched both rows & columns separately & nothing.

I also closed the file & re-opened it b/c you are right, I do leave my computer on 24/7 & since I did the search I don't the file has been restarted.

Unfortunately that didn't solve the problem.

I didn't reboot, but give me a couple of days & I will. I had to shut down yesterday.

Now I'm having problems with another excel file not finding ANY searches even though I know the words are in that file

I have no idea what's going on <sigh>

Thanks

Michelle

<Chuckle> Ok, forget my long-winded explanations and let's try it this way. Go back to the workbook and:
  • Start a Find (<Ctrl-F>).
  • In the expanded Options menu, put 'cJ' (mixed case) in the "Find what:" text box.
  • Check the "Match case" option (and by "check" I mean turn it on).
  • Make sure the "Match entire cell contents" option is off.
  • Set "Within:" to "Workbook".
Now do two different searches, one with the "Look in:" option set to "Formulas", and again with it set to "Values" (but with all the above options as described).

As I said before, I'm reaching. But then at this point we're all scratching our heads unsure of what's going on, right?, so maybe I'm a genius and maybe I'm just wasting your time on another unlikely hypothesis, but either way it probably couldn't hoit.

Ok I had to reboot all of Excel b/c all of a sudden I couldn't search in that file either

Now the search is working.

So I did that, but there's no "values" in that drop down.

Nothing for formulas.

No it won't hoit LOL

Thanks

Ok, so when you press tab to go to the next column the result shows cJ rather than CJ?
very strange since the sample sheet you gave me didnt do that. Here is a new experiment. Using the sample sheet that you posted are you still experiencing the same problem or is not an issue with the sample sheet?

Hold on a second: No "Values" setting?

I can't buy that; we must be looking in different places. Here's what I mean (see attached).
