Select the range to format ( say B2:C2)
Home ribbon
Styles tab
Cond formatting
Click " manage rules" - New rule - Use a formula
Enter
Code:
=B$2=max(B2:C2)
OK

Format as required -Finish

EDIT Replace MAX with MIN if needed
