Default Insert Picture changes colors

I am trying to insert an image into a Word document. The Word document has a coloured background (it's red 204:0:0). I've carefully prepared the image in Photoshop to have a matching background (actually for some reason it's 204:0:1 but I don't suppose anyone will be able to see the difference). Here's the image I'm inserting:

But when I insert the image into Word, the background of the image changes to 208:28:0 so it no longer matches the background in the Word document. Here's what it looks like in Word:

Word seems to have modified the colour balance of the image in some way. Maybe it thought "this image is a bit on the red side - I'll just improve it a bit". Well, I'd rather it didn't double guess what I'm aiming at... How do I stop Word changing the colour balance of the inserted image?

This is Word 2007 running on Windows 7 32 bit.

Thanks - Rowan
