The FILENAME\p field generates the full name of the current file (your mailmerge main document). The following \\..\\ strips that off for the purposes of the INCLUDETEXT field.

Every time you open a mailmerge main document, you get an SQL prompt, as king whether Word should connect to the data source. This is normal behaviour. If you answer 'Yes', Word will reconnect of its own accord so that you don't need to go through the manual connection process all over again.
