Italophile is correct. Ctrl+S has always been a shortcut to Save. Still is.

If your display language setting is English, when you tap Alt you will see ribbon accelerator keys appear. "F" is the File tab (backstage). Pressing F takes you to that.
Then new accelerator keys appear and "S" is save.

So, try pressing the following sequentially, not all together.
Alt, F, S


These are not traditional keyboard shortcuts. They came into Word when the Ribbon was introduced.
  • They cannot be customized.
  • They change to accelerate commands already on the screen.
  • They do not show up in any list of keyboard shortcuts.
