PDF conversion path issue
Hi, I am recently having a small problem when converting my Excel sheet to PDF format. The issue is that for work reasons when I convert the document to PDF the file path appears at the bottom of the page in PDF which is fine except that instead of naming which drive the file was converted from it just gives D:\Folder-Main\Sub-Folder-A\PDF Conversions\FILE.xls instead of: Business Drive:\Folder-Main\Sub-Folder-A\PDF Conversions\FILE.xls I once saw someone convert pdf in this manner but it has been a long time and I tried googling this but not sure if I am getting the keywords right. Can anyone help me with this issue? Thanks! Note: I have windows 7 and Office 2010 |

You'd need to use VBA to get the UNC name. For some code to get you started, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/160529

Just to confirm what you are saying.
So I have an excel document with some tables and other information. I used the ADOBE Acrobat "convert to PDF" plug-in and when the process is complete I will see the file path at the bottom right corner of the document (pdf). The issue is that this file path at the bottom is starts with "D:\" instead of the driver name of "Business Drive:\" And to fix this issue you have suggested the above as a solution to this problem. Correct? The reason I ask is because although I understand both links are about the issue I am having the solution does not make sense to me. Where am I suppose to put these codes? The only coding knowledge I have is opening something with notepad and change X or Y value. I would appreciate some more beginner friendly know how so that I can understand these instructions better. Thanks! |

The issue has nothing to do with the ADOBE Acrobat "convert to PDF" plug-in, though I don't know why you'd use that when Office 2007 can already produce PDFs without it. The code in the links is for retrieving the UNC path so you can include that in your file; it also works independently of what format you're saving the file in. Using the code presupposes a working knowledge of VBA, as you'll need to adapt it and supplement it with code to insert the path into your file.
