Need guidance with formatting
I have a large document which contains a large number of instances of various phrases - such as 'In reply to'.
I need to change all instances of the various phrases into different colours for clarity. I found this detail elsewhere - Quote:
Can anyone suggest where I am going wrong, or alternatively another way to select and re-format all instances of a phase. Thanks |

In the Find and Replace dialog box (Ctrl+H) enter the text to search for in the "Find what" box. Specify ^& for "Replace with." With the insertion point in the "Replace with" box, click Format | Font and specify the desired color. (To see the Format button, you may have to click More first, so that all options are visible.) Click Replace All.

Thank you very much Stefan - that saved me a lot of finger work.
I would never have figured out to use such obscure characters - is there anywhere that this sort of information is available - searching did not find it. Thanks again. |

You are welcome.
As far as Help is concerned, the Office help files are no longer what they used to be... :-( However, http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/wo...610.aspx?CTT=1 is a fairly good introduction to find and replace in Word. To learn about wildcard searches, see http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/UsingWildcards.htm.
