fix position for a segment in a doc
Hi all, I Need to design a document ( letter size , portrait)with a bottom segment starts at 7" , end at 10" in word. The bottom segment has some special contents to be inserted and is totally different from 7" up. How can I make this bottom segments always starts at the fixed position ( 7") whenever texts are inserted above this portion ? Can you help ? thanks in advance. Tai |

Segmented pages
Hello, tai.
Word can set columns for a section, but it has no way that I know of to segment pages horizontally. You can insert a Continuous section break, but that will not carry from page to page. The best thing I can suggest, not knowing your complete needs, is to pre-format a table to the width of your text (margin to margin) and save it as a QuickPart that you can insert with a quick click or keystroke. You can set the row(s) to maintain a specified height, in your case about 7" total, and set its layout to wrap around, rather than inline, then set Positioning to Bottom of Margin. The table will then stay there. you'll have to insert a new on on each page. Hope that helps. Ulodesk |

Ulodesk,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have tried the section idea but could not figure out how to shorten the section size( lengthwise) , like you said no way to segment page horizontally. I am designing a form that 7" up will have data from table1, 7" down (fixed position) will begin with dash line then data from table2. It is possible that first segment might overflow to next page , but 2nd segment will not. Will try your table idea. Tai |
