Default Updating Links

Further to my post below, which I have now sorted by reading on through older posts and finding a solution, I now have a relatively simple query:
Is there a quick and convenient way to update all fields including headers and footers?

By pressing Ctrl A then F9, I only update links in the body of the document and not headers and footers and I find it a hassle going through the prepare lins process on the Word Menu.
Maybe some sort of macro or other tool that automatically updates them each time you close or save the document???
Thanks in advance again.
John.
