Default Word 2007 - different text for odd and even headers?

I created odd and even headers fine. I got them to align like I want. I can even make odd bold and even italic. But for some reason I can't give odd one title and even another. Whatever characters I enter into one are entered into the other. I want to put my book title on the odd pages and my chapter title on the even. Anyone know how to do this?

Also, the text looks like it isn't black. More like grey. I choose black for the color, and it looks okay, but then when I close the header the text turns grey. I'm using the built-in "Alphabet" header. Maybe it will look black if I print but my printer is busted so I can't check.

TIA.

Since you are using a built-in header, you get the same content control in both; that's why typing a title into one header would also reflect in the other header. Carefully select the "type the document title" prompt in the odd header and press Ctrl+X (cuts it to the clipboard). The border should still remain in the header. Now simply type in the title you want. Repeat for the even header.

Headers and footers are always greyed out in Word when the insertion point is in the main body of the document; similarly, when a header or footer is active, the main body of the document appears greyed out. But, as you probably have noticed, it doesn't affect how these areas actually print. If you find this annoying, convert the document to PDF before distributing it.

Hmm, I forgot to edit [solved] into the title and now it seems the time I'm afforded to do so is expired?

Mods, feel free.
