Hard to say; it indicates that the computer is in the process of executing some process. Perhaps you can say when it happens, in what application, etc. If you have a large document, it could be while it is automatically saving, or there may be a problem with the document which is causing repagination which Word can't resolve.

It happens every time I open the program, with all MS Word documents, short or long.

Yes, it did have trouble repagination one of my documents.

Hi
This has been a problem with Windows Vista and Windows 7 primarily since these operating systems were released. It is to do with the number of "svchost" sessions running in the background. I get it a lot and there is nothing you can do about it other than waiting for the system to return to you. You could check the amount of RAM you have on your system as the more RAM you have tends to reduce the instances of this happening.

It is nothing to do with the program you are using it is to do with the number of "svchost" events the operating system is running.
