Hi
If you are inserting another file into a new file the properties of the new file will be the master, therefore you WILL lose the protection of the inserted file. You can try setting up a new template with protection set to on and then insert the protected file in that template file. I this does not work come back to the forum and we can look at other options. You could also consider saving it as a pdf with protection properties assigned. Hope this helps Good luck. Tony(OTPM) |

Any kind of document protection as specified in the Restrict Formatting and Editing pane can be circumvented by inserting the document into another, unprotected document. The feature doesn't provide more security than that.
Why do you have to insert the file into another file?

Making use of PDFs is probably the easiest approach, yes.
