I would like to know if there is some kind of Word formatting that allows one to create mathematical notations such as this. Wikipedia has them setup as .png files, but it would be really convenient to be able to type them out in at the keyboard in a Word document. Can this be done?

If you don't have Equation Editor (I think it came with Office 2003 though), it might still be available for download on the web.

Version 2007 and 2010 have good equation tools on the Insert tab.

Do you know if additional symbols can be installed? I'm looking for an inversed delta (up-side-down triangle) and it doesn't seem to exist in the greek symbols. Can this be updated?
