I was using the tab key on a long document and it quit working around page 30 - it would still work on any text before page 30 but not on any after. What would happen is when I'd press the tab key the cursor and the page would go to the bottom of my 150 page document. Also a symbol of a pointed cross would appear at the last line on page 30 just where the tab key would no longer work properly.I couldn't delete this symbol.I went into word options, proofing and autocorrect options, auto format but it had no effect on correcting the problem! Any help would be appreciated!

This sounds like a section of a document protected for forms. Can you type in the area where this happens?

Thank you for your reply.Yes I can type in that area and use everything except the tab key.Upon further reading I believe that my document got formatted somehow which I don't know how to change or correct. One bit of advice I read was to save the document as plain text and this gets rid of all the formatting - which I have done and now after 5 hours of pulling my hair out I can now use the tab key!
