Default Renumbering lists for hidden text?

Is there any way to make Word renumber my automatically-numbered list to account for the text I have hidden? For example, my list was:

A. xxx

B. yyy
C. zzz

I want to hide B. But hiding the text means my list looks like

A. xxx
C. zzz

Any fixes to change the C to a B?

No, in a list, Word counts all the numbers, even those that aren't shown. The only thing you can do is manually renumber the list, using the context (right-click) menu option. But you may not find this to be worth the effort, as it will create additional lists in the text.
