Caption woes with cross-references/TOFs (Word 2007)
I and several co-workers are having a recurring issue where we'll add a caption to a table or figure--in the approved, orthodox manner--but when we try linking to it as a cross-reference, it doesn't show up in the dialog box. What's more, some don't show up when we generate a Table of Figures/Tables. Even worse, it's not consistent--sometimes the TOF will grab a caption, but it's not available as a cross-reference ... and sometimes vice versa!
I've tried deleting and re-creating all the captions, tried updating all the fields, and no luck. To all appearances, Word simply won't ACCEPT a caption for certain tables and graphics--they'll generate a caption, but not tag it as a potential cross-reference and/or Table of Figures entry. With other tables or graphics--seemingly similar ones--it's no problem. Please oh please, what gives? |
