Hi guys

When I have a paragraph thats typed normally i will then highlight it and hit Tab to move it over however it has just started dissappearing. Its quite vital for me as this is howi need documents to look for work.

Hi Greg,

Pressing the Shift key on its own isn't sufficient to move text. You have to do something else as well (eg dragging the text). If simply pressing the Shift key causes a deletion, that suggests you've done something to reassign the Delete key's function to the Shift key. If so, that's not an Office issue.

thanks for the reply my mistake wrong wording i meant when i hit the Tab key on highlighted text it deletes the text

Hi Greg,

Try pressing the Insert key to toggle the insert/overtype mode. Pressing Tab should then indent the text.

Successfully ran the repair utility but it still hasn't fixed my issue at all. Do you think it could be a conflicting Microsoft update, or programme.

Hi Greg,

I doubt it's anything to do with an update. I could understand pressing Tab when you're in overtype mode deleting the selection, but that shouldn't happen in insert mode.

Many thanks for your help i have fixed the issue its been bugging me for weeks. It was a autocorrect options -> Auto correct AS you type tab-> Then it had set left- and first- indent with tabs and backspaces unticked.
