Default How to Lock header numbers?

I created document (questionnaire) with numbered paragraphs. I want to keep the number in front of the paragraph when copy/pasting to a new document. Like this:

Original:

1. One
2. Two
3. Three
4. Four

Copied should be:

2. Two
4. Four

But is:

1. Two
2. Four

Copy/paste resets the number. Saving to different file formats, like rtf or even html does not 'free' the number. Saving to text does, but then all format is lost and that's not good either...

Did I miss the obvious? Is there a workaround?

Hi HenDrake,

It's not possible to have the headings in the target document skip certain heading numbers. You could, however, insert the intervening headings and format them as 1pt white text, with no before/after space. That will minimize any visual effect.

Thanks Paul for the reply. The workaround seems workable but more complicated than manually changing the profile to 'not numbered' and then typing in the numbers.

Isn't there no other workaround? Some programs must keep the number, while 'forgetting' that is is automated?
