Default comment numbering for multiple reviewers

Is there a way to separate the item numbering of comments per reviewer when multiple reviewers work on the same article? By default, if Reviewer A (initials "AY") and Reviewer B (initials "BZ") add comments to the same article, the comments get identified in a single series; for example: [AY1], [AY2], [BZ3], and so on. Meaning that BZ's first comment, in this example, gets IDed not as BZ's first comment but as the third comment overall. Is there a way to separate the reviewers so that BZ's first comment gets IDed as "[BZ1]" regardless of where it appears in relationship to any of AY's comments? All I see among the Track Change options are settings for color, but nothing for numbering. I don't see a relevant setting in the general program options, either. Thanks!

Hi ticotico,

You can't change the comment numbering, but you can select which reviewers' comments to show. That way, you can see all of BZ's comments in isolation and in order (though the numbers still might not be contiguous).

Hey, macropod — thanks for the response! Not what I wanted to hear, but so it goes. I didn't really explain my goal. The issue is not to isolate one reviewer's comments (although I appreciate that tip) but to avoid changing the IDs of existing comments. The problem with this occurs when the first reviewer refers to another of his own comments. For example, comment [AY3] might say, "See the change I made in [AY8]." But if the second reviewer adds a comment ahead of [AY8], [AY8] becomes [AY9]. Therefore, the second reviewer has to scan the first reviewer's comments and manually update all such references to keep them accurate. Ah well. Maybe some day we'll get an option to change this. (Probably the same day I win the lottery.) Thanks again!
