Default Endnote X4 - APA Style - Problems with in text citation - Thanks for your help!

Hello everybody,

I am using Endnote X4 on with Office4Mac 2011 and need to cite in APA style. I imported the APA style successfully and can use the output style.

I have a problem with in-text citation. I need to cite in two ways.
(1) According to XYZ (1999) Norway is a nice country.
(2) Norway is a nice country (XYZ, 1999)

The problem is that when I insert a citation in the document, Endnote always cites in version 2 (see above). I can I insert a citation in version 1? Do I have to specify that manually? How can I tell Endnote which type it should use, I think that not easy as both versions are in-text citations. But there must be a solution for that?

Thank you very much.

Best, Manuel

Hi manuelb,

As if Endnote doesn't know about this issue! I've the same problem!!!

Half of the solution is manual!!!

you need first to insert the citiation as usual then you copy and paste the name of the auther then you EXCLUDE the name of the author from the citation (see attached images). this keeps the citation linked with the reference.

this is the way i do it. there should be a more genius way!

regards

Jamal

Also, I'm not sure if you imort the citation directly!

you can link "Google scholar", Endnote and Word so that all can work together. see the attached image
