Default Problems with linked tables becoming corrupt

Hi All,

This is my first post here so apologies if this has already been answered (but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere).

I have a word document (word 2013) with a lot of tables linked from excel (excel 2013) - tables have manual update and formatting preserved. This is a file that gets 'rolled forward' periodically, and on the last roll forward the links all appear to be corrupted.

I can relink all of them to the latest excel file, and while the document is open they work fine, but as soon as it is saved and closed they become corrupted again, and need to be relinked when the word document is opened again.

Has anyone else come across this issue? Any ideas how to fix? Its clearly a bit of a pain having to relink the files every time I open the file, and as the document is over 100 pages long, with 70-80 linked tables, I don't want to start again from scratch if I can avoid it...

When you say the links are corrupted what do you actually see? Is this a case of the path no longer being valid or is there something else going wrong.

You could change your options to not automatically update the links when you open the document and set the links for manual updates. Then you will only need to update the links when something in your Excel file changes.

The file is already set to manual updates. And the file path is correct.

when I right click on the table, I only see 'object' as an option. Not the usual items to refresh the link. When I go through to the links they have the correct file path, but do not recognise it. Both files are on the same server and in the same folder...
