Default Croatian characters such as a capital C w/ accent acute?

Hello all,

I'd be grateful if someone here could tell me how to get a capital C with an accent acute. I'm proofreading documents that refer to Croatian names, which require this accent as well as a caron on a capital Z. I've spent a lot of time trying to resolve this...they are not in the symbols in the program as far as I can see.

I am on a Mac and the unicode (Alt) codes do not seem to help, but in any case I can't find those for the capitals either.

Thanks for any help.

Regards.

Hi ,

Do you mean Ć and Ž? If so, both of these are available via Insert|Symbol (as part of the Latin Extended-A set) or by typing 0106 then Alt-x and 017D then Alt-x, respectively.

Hi Paul,

Yes that is precisely what I need to accomplish and thanks for responding.

Still, I have attempted your solution and do not find that I have the option of the Latin Set Latin Extended-A set in insert/symbol+pull down menu and the alt codes give me an "approximate" sign.

I'm on an Apple Macbook Pro, running MS Word 2004 11.6.3. Could it be an issue of my hardware or software (Too outdated perhaps)?

Thanks very much for your help.

Hi vhindley,

Sorry, I'm not familiar with what's available on the PC but not on the Mac. My reply was based on what's available on the PC. Ultimately, it comes down to whatever to installed fonts support. If you copy & paste the characters from this post, you'll have the characters to play with. If they don't display correctly, the font you're using may not support such extended characters and you'll need to choose a different font.
