Question How to have "Footnote" in section different from the section for the words it refers

How to have "Footnote" in section different from the section of the words it refers to!!!

please, see the attached images that shows my question

the standard Journal articles have specific format as it is shown image (1). i needed to do the same in word.

First, i need to have the name of the author as a footnote BUT to have the footnote in the position indicated in image (2)

The problem is that the name of the author and the footnote (in this case) belong to different sections!!!!

how to resolve this issue and achieve this standard article style?

regards

Jamal

Hi Jamal,

Word doesn't support doing footnotes that way. However, you can work around it by attaching the footnote to the start of the first paragraph in the two-column area, formatting the footnote reference there as hidden text, then insert a cross-reference to the footnote where you need it in the one-column area. See attached document.

Thank you Paul. quite genius work around.

I think the problem will be when the file is sent in Word format to another institution!!!! they will get confused due to the work around

but for the time being, it does the job perfectly

Regards
