Default How to automate BOLD in a line

Hi all, new to this thread

I have a document of over 3,000 pages, I want to make some lines bold, the lines I want bold contain the open and closed brackets ( ) these are the only lines I want bold.

Is there a way I can search the document and tell MS word 2007 that any line that containes the ( and ) to be bold, the line could be any length but only that line contains the ( and ).

As the Brackets ( and ) are used as expressions in wild cards I can change them to anything is this makes it easier.

Hope someone can help there are over 3000 lines to convert to bold

Thanks

MaqdBriT

Hi MaqdBriT,

You can use a wildcard Find/Replace, where:
Find = \([!\)]{1,}\)
Replace = ^&
and the replacement font format is set to bold.

Thanks, that selects the two brackets and whats inside, but I need the whole line to be bold, a sample line is below

Al Bumbah North (HL0M)

I need the whole line to be bold, not just the brackets

Thanks, any idea???

Kind Regards

MadBriT

Hi MadBriT,

If the 'whole line' is a paragraph, you could use a wildcard Find/Replace, where:
Find = [!\(^13]{1,}\([!^13]{1,}
Replace = ^&
and the replacement font format is set to bold.

Note: The Find code now only looks for paragraphs with the opening bracket, then selects all the text in the paragraph concerned. To make the Find/Replace more efficient, you could specify the Find text as 'Not Bold', but that will only be of use if none of the text is already bolded.

Hi MAdbRit,

The Find/Replace codes are listed in Word's help file. I don't know that there are any tutorials, per se, on their use, but web searches for 'Word wildcard Find/Replace' should turn up some useful examples.
