Embedded File
I have a question regarding embedded files.
What I want to do is have a link or an icon that draws in the contents of an existing file when I click on it. In more lamens terms, I have a large file in word 2007 and on the third page of that file I want to be able to click on a link that will input the contents of a second smaller (one page) file on to that third page of the larger file. I do not want the link to open the one page seperately. I also want the link to be a small link or a small icon (not the contents of the whole file linked to the existing one page file like you can do with embedded files). Help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance, -Atlas |

Hi Atlas,
You're really asking for more than Word is designed to do. By design, objects embedded as icons are intended to open in a new window. The only practical way of achieving something like what you're asking for requires the use of a combination of MACROBUTTON and IF fields along with custom document variables and macro programming. See the attached file.
