I think this it a fields question
I am a graphic designer and I do not use microsoft products but I have been giving the job of updating their word doc forms. How do I turn of the grey fields so I can edit the rest of the document? I have spent way to long trying to figure this out and I know it has to be something simple.

Aha!
Jamie, the document is restricted from editing. You need to key in a password to remove that. The relevant command is Developer tab> Protect Group> Restrict editing. Jay |

Hi jamie,
In Word 2003 & earlier, you can toggle the formfield shading via the formfields toolbar. I don't have access to Word 2007 right now, but the same facility should be available on the Developer Tab, under 'Legacy Forms'.
