Default Template with automatic text input from seperate documents!

Hi,

I often have to compile large reports with standardised text. This standardised text is often required to be updated and sometimes may not be required at all. Presently all the text is in a template whether needed or not. What I am usually faced with is a daunting document full of text that is not required. it is also difficult to keep track of what is upto date and is just messy!

My idea is to have a number of seperate ms word files for each topic heading so that they are easily updatable and auditable. I would then like to create a template that allows me to copy the text into the main document with somesort of link. I know how to have a link in a document but I am thinking more along the lines of the text appears through somesort of clever macro. any advice on how best to do this would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks in advance.
