Default Spell Check

I have a client using Word 2007 and when he puts any acronym in or any word in all capitals, it will not allow him to add it to the dictionary. When he right clicks on the word, add to dictionary is grayed out. I have already unchecked the box for word to not correct capitalized letters/words. I did it on my own computer and was able to add whatever i wanted. What could I be missing?

Hi CommoMP,

How many entries are there in the user's custom dictionary? Aside from which, it seems to me that, if the user has turned off the capitalized word spell-checking, there would be no need to add such words to the custom dictionary.

The thing about it is that he can add words that are in lower case to the dictionary, just not all letters in upper case. How many he has in his profile? More than I'd like to count.
Thanks for the replay.

Do be aware there is a limit as to how many words can be added.

As for being unable to add words in capitals, are you sure the same words haven't been input previously? Have you tried editing the custom dictionary manually? I should also point out that adding captialized forms only will result in any lower-case forms being flagged as spelling errors, whereas the reverse isn't true.

I was able to manually add the three letter capatalized word into the dictionary, but in his document he had over 40 of them and he didn't want to manually add them, as I would not either. Just can't figure it out. When I try it on my account it works as it does for everybody within the office.

Hi CommoMP,

Strange indeed. I'm not aware of any Word setting that would affect this.
