Suppose that there is a thesis with 10 chapters full of equations and pictures. such a docs would be too big and takes long time to open and it would be hard to get where you want because of it getting long.
is there any way to make 10 separate files for each chapter, but still be able to create index in the first file for all of 10 docs? what about croos-references to other chapters in other files? |

Hi b0x4it,
If, by 'Index' you mean a table of Contents, yes, that's quite easy - check out Word's 'RD' field in the Help file.

Hi b0x4it,
That's hardly a limitation - it just shows that the writer has at best misunderstood the RD field's purpose, which is only for building a composite Table of Contents.
