Default Transition from WordPerfect to Word

Hi everyone,

I work in the IT department for a law office and we are contemplating the transition from WordPerfect to Word, but have a few concerns. Back in the day, WordPerfect was 'the' tool to use for law offices, but I'm not so sure it's necessary anymore. Is it possible to accomplish these with the newest version of Word?

- Printing to legal, envelope, and bond I assume shouldn't be a problem.
- Setting up a letterhead macro. Currently we press alt+L to bring up our letterhead.
- How sophisticated is the numbering and page markings in Word?
- I'll be back with more concerns as I find them out.

If Word can accomplish this, we may purchase a copy and start out by testing it with a single employee and go from there. Thanks!

Hi rbrlaw,

Word is a very capable word-processing program, with support for whatever staionery your printer uses, letterheads, page numbering, mailmerges, etc. However, it is very different to WordPerfect and a successful transition will require careful preparation and training. Default Transition from WordPerfect to Word

Hi,
I'd like to know if there are still people or organizations either considering converting from WordPerfect to Word or who are in the process of converting from WordPerfect to Word. Is this still a trend?
Thanks.

Organizations and people change the software they use. It takes some effort, in either direction. It is far from painless and many follow the idea of "if it isn't broke - don't fix it!" Different programs may fulfill the same functions, but they use different methods and that takes some getting used to.
