How can I change the default font of the equations in word 2010 permanently?
Thanks for your reply in advance.

After inserting an equation, click on the little arrow on the Equation Tools 'Tools' box. There you can change the default font for maths regions. If you then click on 'Defaults', that gives you the option of updating Word's 'Normal' template.

Thanks for your reply. But the problem is that when I go to Tools, there is just one font in the combo box that is "Cambria Math".
How can I change it please?

To be able to change it, you would have to first install another font with the same kind of symbols capability of Cambria Math. Cambria Math is the only such font Word comes with. 3rd-party suppliers may have suitable alternatives.

Sorry, but that's not something I've needed to explore. A web search might turn up something - especially if you check out the different font makers' web sites.

I did, but I found just MathType and XITS. What I'm trying to do is to make the default equation editor of Word 2010 looks like LaTeX equations, but with no luck by far. I think I have to build my own font. Thanks anyway.

You might see if you can install & use LaTeX's 'Computer Modern' font. I have no idea whether it'll work but, if it does, that should solve the problem.

I actually tried Computer Modern as well as Latin Modern tt and ot fonts. But the ascii code of the characters inside these fonts and those that word expects are different. So if I change the equations to text and force them to have one of these fonts, those greek characters changes their fonts to Arial or Cambria. It means I have to remap all those characters just like they are in Arial or Cambria. Thanks again for replying to this thread.
