Default Hypertext Question

Dear all,

I don't know whether 'hypertext' is the correct term. Anyway I am using MS Word 2007 and what I need to do is select a few words which when you hover with the cursor will reveal a few more words. In this case I want to select words A, B, C which hovering with the cursor will indicate that the translation of A, B, C is X, Y, Z. Please see attached screenshot. The closest I have got so far is with 'insert hyperlink' although of course there is no hyperlink involved here. I just want the box to say the top line ie the translation, not the bottom bit 'click ctrl + to follow' because there is no link to follow. Is there any better way I can do this?

thanx

Thanks for suggestion. That is clever but it won't work for me. For one thing I need to highlight the original text ie so I need to specify how many and which words correspond to the bubble.

Google docs can do what I need, and I hope to check Word 2010.

You could do it as a comment (Insert, Comment), but that would show up either at the side or bottom of the document, depending on your settings.
You could try doing it as a hyperlink that links to the current document (i.e. goes nowhere), but this would allow you to enter some text as a Screen Tip (in the hyperlink dialog box). The screen tip text would show up when you hover over the hyperlink. (Screen grab below is from a Mac, but would be similar on PC.)
Cheers

Ok so I tried the screen tip but your bubble is saying "helloo" but mine says "helloo, click ctrl + to follow" so how do I get rid of "click ctrl + to follow"?

thanx

It's a better solution to insert an AutoTextList field:
1. press Ctrl+F9
a pair of braces will be inserted
2. between the braces type
AutoTextList " بن الصائغ " \s NoStyle \t " Abu-Bakr ibn al-Sayigh"
3. then press F9
the result is this

I discovered a very easy, albeit crude, solution to the popup (pop-up) mouse-over text balloon (I'm piling on the key words here) problem. I wanted a text box (which I could format) to appear if I hovered over particular areas on slide.

1. I simply copied the entire slide to another slide and then added the desired text box to the copied slide.

2. I selected the text (could be an object) and then added an Action Setting, selecting mouseover and the slide that I had created the extra text box on.

3. I then went to the target textbox and created its own Action Setting with a mouseover that would take you back to the original slide.

4. Repeat as necessary for additional text boxes (that is, each box requires its own duplicated slide, so this is a very inefficient work-around).

5. Then I created an object (rectangle) as big as the original slide, with no fill and no line, moved it to the back, and gave it an action setting so that clicking anywhere in the slide would jump me to the next "real" slide in the sequence.

Wallah. Awkward, stupid, functional.
